Devil's in the details. It overheats when doing what with the boat, sitting in the driveway on muffs? idling around the marina? full speed power run?
When and what maintenance has been done?
What have you checked so far?

can ya tell us what engine/drive ya got. ie. i got a mercruiser mc-1 drive powered by a mercruiser 165hp L6 250cid GM engine... ya might even go so far as to list the serial numbers if ya have them...

assumin it's an i/o. usually the first place to look for an overheat is the sea water impeller. on my system it's located in the lower half of my mc-1 drive.... my impeller has a 1 or two year life span and is a normal maint item to be replaced often.....

if we knew what ya had, you'll get some better answers to your question....
