I have a '59 Seaswirl with some pretty oxidized fiberglass. Does anyone have any suggestions on restoring the finish to a shine? Normal wax brings back some lustre but it is still pretty hazy.

Thanks!

Not that I don't want to answer your question but you can find a lot of info if you go to "search" and then type in "oxidation." I prefer anything by 3m.

I use 3M marine wax and restorer for fiberglass. They have heavy, medium, or light oxidization.
You can pick it up at wal-mart.
It worked excellent for me.
Made the old boat look new again :D .

Re: Oxidized boat

As a test, I used a mild auto "cut and polish" on some of my really oxidized areas, and it worked really well..

I was surprised how well it worked, I am not sure I'd use it again, but you don't have to.. once the oxidation was removed, normal wax would do the job of keeping it looking good.

I am not spending alot of money on marine products for my boat because later on down the track the boat will be getting many coats of 2pack paint.. so the finish just has to last until then.

rgds

Franki
