If there is no grease zert on flywheel housing does that mean that the pds can come out the aft. There is no tag on outdrive and I don't know if this dp is a A-2 Or a C- 1 or something else. Books claim C-1 is used in that year. Many Thanks

Post a picture of the drive and transom shield from the side. A full engine model or SN would sure help as well.

Wish I could But I Don't have access to boat it is in storage at lake 200 mi. away. Lake mech. says motor needs to come out and I was trying to find out if that could be avoided. (26' cruiser not fun to tow)

If the exhaust exits through the lower unit housing [not through the props], this would be one of the later main suspension fork and pivot tube drives. [no gimbal suspension system]
If you have this style, you're getting poor advice. There's no need to remove the engine with a single bearing primary drive shaft.
Unless you find very bad corrosion, this shaft should remove from the rear with the upper unit off and out of your way.

Bearing is a 6206 2RS, or any sealed 6206 in a high quality.

The PDS and bearing Jerry is talking about is the same for either the A-2 or C-1 drives.

You still need pics or numbers to determine which drive you have.
