Not sure if anyone outside WI heard about the Packers press conference yesterday. I guess Mike Sherman (Packers head coach) has a real hangup about cell phones and ringing at inappropriate times.

After repeated warnings, yesterday someones cell phone went off during the press conference. He stopped the conference asked the person who's phone was ringing to fess up several times and noone spoke up.

Sherman said fine, then the press conference is over.

He comes back later and says fess up or Favre's press conference is cancelled as well. Noone fessed up, Favre's press conference was cancelled.

Turns out it was a camera man's phone and the phone was in his equipment bag.

Who was the bigger jerk? Sherman or the camera man for not man-ing up and saying it was his phone.

Sean

the guy who didn't fess up. so he is asked to leave, no big deal. he learns the lesson as do the others.

cell phones have become a real pain in the butt, but they're a necessity and here to stay. people should know when to turn them off, but we're human and people forget. i always try to turn mine off, but i have forgotten.

Re: Packers Press Conference

Tell it to the Judge. Was doing my civic duty this past week, before entering the Court Room every one was informed if any pager or cell phone went off during the proceedings it would become the property of the court. Well when a spectator’s cell rang the Judge stopped the proceedings and had the bailiff retrieve the offending device. He then informed the FORMER owner, the phone was now the property of the court. The rest of those in attendance quickly and quietly checked the status of their phones and pagers to insure they remained in their possession. :D :D :D

So if the person "holding" the press conference request all cell phones be turned off, as I see it he can do as he whishes if those in attendance do not comply. Oh, and BTW camara man = jerk.

I detest people who are so self absorbed, that they think they have to have that bleeping phone with them and on at all times.

A necessity? Really? I can't wait until they outlaw driving while blabbing in all 50 states..Why do some people feel that just because they have one, they need to be on it constantly?

Who cares? A Packers news conference is a waste of time anyway....LT ...I'm pretty sure that the judge broke the law on that one.....JK

Cell phones are directly proportional to one's image of "self importance".

We have allot of self important people out there. :(

I guess there is a history with Sherman and that situation, he's done it before and everyone in the press conferences know about it. I can't blame Sherman. He's not doing those conferences for his benefit, especially this year.

I think they extended his contract as an insurance policy. It's not because they had faith in his coaching abilities. The gave him a new contract, so 1) it would not be a distraction 2) if the Pack ended up doing really well, a contract would not be an issue 3) if they dimiss him, the money lost is a drop in the bucket. It's a very minor hit finacially and he doesn't affect the salary cap.

Never liked Sherman and I can't stand the drafts he's had. I hope he's gone. The funny thing is about that news conference is that he shows more emotion about a cell phone than he does on the sidelines of a football game!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think sherman did the right thing.....now if only he would do that on a 3rd and 2 play and put the ball in Favre's hands (Viking Game). As far as I am concerned Bates is the only coach we have that I like. Nice to see a guy get in the players face when they do something stupid. When you lose 5 games by less than 7 points then there is a coaching problem. Stuid Mistakes, Stupid Penaltys.....thats on the coach

Hey, can we just move on... and start talking about the "new look" Bucks. :) Now that's a team that seems to be making the right moves. Two solid wins against two solid teams..

Re: Packers Press Conference

whats a buck? or a brewer? :D well this week i am going against my number one rule in the losers pool at work.(stay away from the packer games) yep i am picking the packers as this weeks loser. in the 5 years i have been in this pool i have never pick the packers or thier opponents. i am just afraid its gonna backfire on me. but it was the best pick i had left for this week.
