My 95 Stratos 258V was damaged in a house fire on 04/01/02. Being the good husband, I waited till we got back in the home to repair the boat. The local shop has had the rig since 02/27/03. The paint blistered, the rubrail melted some and the windshield melted/warped. The carpet also is ruined. We settled on a price to repair the boat and replace the carpet. I bought the windshield and the rubrail. This is my concern, The shop has sanded and repaired the fiberglass area which was blistered. They are telling me now that they want to paint it to match the original with imron with the metal flake mixed in to match. Then they will cover with clearcoat. Is this gonna be ok? They have been jerking me around for a while on this. They probally have 10 hrs labor in the repairs and have had my rig forever. The Crappie are being caught now and I am still high and dry. Any Suggestions? I am thinking of just going and getting it and taking it elsewhere. Any thoughts willl be apprieciated.. Thanks in advance.

If they do good work be patient & rent a boat till they are done. If not - - -

Stratosfied,

Paint/metal flake and clearcoat is about all they can do. The only other option is new gel coat and that would be almost impossible to match.

The metal flake makes this repair VERY difficult.

Thanks, I guess the frustration of not putting the rig in the water in over a year is getting to me. I will wait them out. Thanks for the input.
