I've been sitting in my home "office" dipping lead jig heads into paint. I think that I'm "high" now. Wow, that stuff smells.

That got me to remembering the old days when I put model cars together and the glueing process. Now you have to be 18 years old to buy model glue. I never "sniffed" the glue but I do remember getting a floating sensation putting those models together.

Anyone remember the smell of mimoegraph paper in high school? I loved the smell of that paper.

OK. I think the high just wore off. :p

The blue ink ones!

I remember the fresh ones were the best and every kid in the class would be sniffing and inhaling the paper before we even read what was on it!

Ya, paint fumes are great, I was imersed from model building, Military and then Autobody for about 30 years, nothing wrong with a good Laquer high! It finally got to me and cut my productive carear to support my family at the level I was accustomed to very short. I dabble in it now, but I had to completly sepparate myself from it for about 6 years. I nealy lost everything I owned, including my mind. Protect yourself at every opportunity.

LubeDude. Are you serious or joking? Are you saying that you deliberately inhaled fumes?

Re: Paint Fumes

LD is not the only one. I almost died at 16 helping my dad out in the body shop. With him being a good dad, number one rule was to always answer him when spoken to. He had me inside an old Arkansas Traverler washing up the over spray with laquer thinner.

He was ready to lock up shop and told me to come in when I was done. I didn't answer and it made him mad. Good thing because I was up in the bow of the boat all passed out and had thrown up. He got me inside the house, put me in the tub of water and then I finally came to.

Never again I use any solvents that are harmful without a mask. Sad note is that my dad never learned from the incident. He would spray Imron with the hardner that would produce a synide gas. Finally his body absorbed so much it put him to eternal sleep. Yep, gotta read them warning labels fella's.
