Paint or not? Mercruiser raw water pump

Hi- from other posts you may know I am rebuilding much of my 1973 Cruise-a-Home engine- a Mercruiser 325 (a big block 427 Chevy). So this might be silly, but...

I pulled the pump that draws the river water to the cooling system and cleaned and inspected it. Much of the paint just "flaked off" and revealed the really nice bronze casting. Do I need to repaint this? It's such a cool looking piece of machinery, I'd rather leave it and admire it bare.

Boat runs in fresh water and the engine compartment stays pretty dry.

Thanks!

You don't need to paint it.....

Buff it to a mirror finish with Flitz for "bling"
