Paint over antifouling paint

We bought a boat and all the mechanical items have been completed and it runs great. Now on to the cosmetic....the old owner had some antifouling paint and sanded part of it off, but didn't get too far - but she did barely go through the gelcoat in spots - so it looks pretty ugly. We trailer it and use it exclusively in lakes, so I don't see the need to keep the antifouling paint and was wondering if I could just go over it. I know this a total newbie question - Is there a fiberglass paint I can roll on? Is there a brand anyone can recommend? The funds aren't there to get this professionally done, so it's just me at this point.

From what I have read about antifouling paint all you have to do is prep the area as you would any other paint. Make sure you scuff it real good and that the area is clean and there is no chips or loose paint. You can fair the spots that went through the gel coat. Paint brands will depend on what price range you have in mind. You can do anything from rustoleum marine paint to gel coat. Do you have pictures of the area?

Antifouling paint cannot be painted over with anything but more antifouling paint. If you want to apply an enamel or polyurethane, the antifouling paint must be completely removed.
