I have this fiberglass boat, and I want to give it a fresh paint job. However I cant get the old paint off. I have tried marine paint stripper didnt work I tried 60 grit sanding it did smooth the surface but didnt remove the paint I even tried sand blasting NOTHING. I would just paint right over the paint on there already except the paint has tiny hairline cracks all over it like and eggshell when you crack it. I was wondering if I could just sand it smooth then use a high build primer to fill in the inperfections then paint over it? What do you think. and what should I use if I do this. thank you

Re: paint prep

Sounds like your boat has a gelcoat finish over fiberglass that has aged and "crazed" I beleive is the term.
Use the search function at the top of the page and type in "gelcoat," should give you some idea's on how to proceed with filling in the crazing in the gelcoat if indeed it does have a gelcoat finish.
