Paint looked pretty good some blemishes on it before yesterday but when I was out the paint off the leading edge and mostly on the side facing the bow is worn off. Also you can feel it is slick smooth not sure what happened? Can't get images tonight as it is too dark but will tomorrow.

paint on props is only temporary as Bondo said. once the leading edge get exposed the suction on the forward facing side and the friction on the rear facing side of the prop will take the rest of the paint off.

I fully agree paint is temporary; But I have 2 factory Merc props, one from C:1965 it is white.with many hours. The paint is gone on the very tip edge of the blades.
And it has extensive cavitation scarring on the back side. But paint is present everywhere else. Same exact prop ,much newer, only the very tip edge of blades and the cavitation scarring have lost paint. Both these came from the same 1965 Merc 500.

Ah okay I wondered because the prop looked pretty new for the about the 100 hours I used it and I bought it used so likely many more hours on it.

Stainless Steel Props don't have that problem:) My black aluminum quicksilver prop started losing it's paint on the backs of the blades after some ventilation issues. If you are serious about getting some new paint to stick to the aluminum, some deliberate prep work will make it stick better. Thoroughly strip and clean the aluminum, self etching primer maybe followed by a coat of two part epoxy primer and then the top coat. Too much work.....
