I am gonna paint my block after i rebuild it. I am gonna sand blast it I was told i need a good etching primer any ideas? also i want to clean the water ways around the block can i use muratic acid or will this eat the block?

As far as paint the Tempo brand engine paints match very well,A light coat of Zinc Chromate primer would work but it is usually used below the water line.I think Tempo makes a regular primer too.

I use Mar-Hyde self-etching primer on aluminum and most marine steel. It is the best that I have ever used and you can just brush it on if you don't want to use a sprayer.
