Hey guys, I have been browsing some of the threads about painting fiberglass boats. My situation is a little different and I hope someone on here can help. I am planning on re painting a fiberglass squirt kayak. I was told by an acquaintance who is a big chopper painter and pinstriper guy that I will need to sand it down, but not through the gel coat. Spray it with automotive paint. Do my metalflake in clear coats and then finish with a few topcoat layers. Now he paints cars and choppers, so I wanted to check with some boaters and this looked like a good spot for that. Thanks in advance for any help, thoughts, opinions, etc
