I absolutely hate the color of my skeet but the price was right so i am curious as to what steps does one have to go through to prep and paint on the gelcoat. thanks. j

Tell us a little about the boat. Year, present color, what color you want on the boat, and what product you intend on using for the finish. Also, are you doing the paint job personally?

Re: painting my fiberglass skeeter..

Jfish28, I had my 16' speedboat painted some years ago. To keep costs down, I did all the prep work and a local autobody shop (they have painted many boats) did the spray painting with Awlgrip (two part polyurethane paint). I removed all the hardware, guages and motor. I then sanded and filled all scratches, wet sanded the entire boat to 400 grit and masked the rubrail and some other non removeable hardware. They charged me $400 to prime and paint it white. It came out good.
