quick question on painting outboard: instructions on can says paint needs to be between 70 and 90 degrees F. Does outboard need to be in that range also, or does it matter?

Re: painting outboard

It is much easier to spray paint an object in warm temps. You can use lots of paint w/o any runs.

It will be hard to get a good finish if the OB is cold. The paint may not dry, and will run very easily...

Re: painting outboard

If you can warm up the paint and the object to be painted to room temp, the air temp will be less of a factor.

Ya get the can warm and use several thin coats instead of one heavy one, eliminates runs and gives you a better finished job and leave a good 20-30 minutes between coats.

You of coarse scuffed the old paint with some 400 grit or a Scotch brite yes, that would be the minimum prep before paint, if not it will be peeling in a couple months.
