Hey Everyone,

Two easy questions for the forum, I have an old trolling motor bracket that needs the wood(about 8" X 12")replaced where the motor clamps on. When I replace it, I asume that I need to cover the new wood with epoxy? Can I paint over the epoxy with spray paint? I just want it flat black, or is there a special coating I need to use? Second, since I just want to paint it, what type of wood is suitable (pine, oak, plywood, etc?)Thanks in advance.

I used a piece of pressure treated 2x8 I had layin around on my kicker bracket, and left it as is. If it dies down the road, I'll just lop off another piece and bolt it up....

Re: Painting over Epoxy?

That sounds like the easiest way to go. I guess it is easy to over-engineer a piece of wood. ;)

Thanks a lot Jason, Mellow, appreciate the advice.
