There is a lot of threads of how to paint the outdrive.
But how about the rest of it - the parts that still attached to the boat-transom plate, gimbal ring and trim cylinders? Does anybody have a good experience with painting of those. Will alumiprep and alodine do any harm to gellcoat, or rubber parts?
I need to clean and paint 2 of them.

The prep is to the metal........ you have to mask off the rubber and fiberglass. The trim cylinders are usually steel.
