The oil in the bilge is from a leaking oil pan gasket soon to be repaired. The water in the bilge I believe is from plane splash. I have two sliding boards that go on horizontally adjacent to the doghouse. When i'm trouble shooting and frequently lifting the dog house I leave those boards off for easy access to the motor. That's how I get the plane splash when test running.

Everytime I trailer the boat at the boat ramp I forget to look in the bilge and dont notice the water/oil till a few days later.

My question is, if you have water in your engine and it dripped out from the oil pan gasket into the bilge, would it look separated or combined like a milk shake?
  • there is no water on the dip stick
  • the spark plugs are dry
  • does not overheat on plane
I'm going to take the boat out a few more times while waiting for gaskets, will keep a closer eye on it

After missing my intake leak multiple times i may be a lil paranoid :peep:

I would take the approach of 'known causes until proved otherwise'. Keep checking the oil before & after each outing and hopefully things will prove themselves out.

Not sure I've ever had a boat that didn't have a little water in the bilge....if there is a known oil leak, that will be it.
