Good afternoon everyone. I am restoring/rebuilding a 1956 12hp Buccaneer, and am in need of part number and availability of the piston rings. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Whenever you inquire about parts for your motor, tell us which 1956 Buccaneer you have. There were four 12hp models that year.

Anyhow, they all take the same rings, part number 593426 (3 ring set). www.marineengine.com has them in stock.

Thanks F_R. I work for a parts company that sells "Sierra". I usually find mostly everything I need for my aged collection, but not this time. Thanks for your time and info! I will be ordering from www.marineengine.com. I believe I recall seeing that you used to work for a company working on the old Gales. That would've been the ideal job for me, as I thoroughly enjoy working on them! Next time I have a question about my buc, I will include model and serial #'s. I do remember however that mine is the "deluxe" model. Thanks again for your help!!

Yeah, it was an interesting job. It also paid off with a ruptured disc from loading 100 pound motors in customer's car trunks, and two total knee replacements from standing on concrete floors for 45 years, and darn near dying from a gut full of ulcers from the pressure of people that just HAD to have their motor by the holiday weekend---along with all the others that HAD to have theirs also.

Retirement is nicer.
