So I'm trying to replace the lower unit vent plug. I can find the bottom drain plug online all day, but I'm having a hard time finding the top plug.

https://leadersrpmshop.com/johnson-...es-40-50hp-drain-plug-02809-03020429-8-02809/

This site here has it, looks identical to what I'm looking for, but when I google the part number I literally can't buy it anywhere else do I'm kinda suspicious.

I don't have the outboard model number. It's a 40hp Evinrude, boat is a bass tracker 89. Not sure if motor is original or not.

This is the drain plug I bought and replaced, assumed the top was the same thread but it's not

It's a .25in OD screw. Blows my mind how I can't find it anywhere besides that first link I sent

My book (EDIT: 1989) sez the vent screw is 309243 (18-1236). Was 765627. If those aren't right, I dunno.

You're a life saver man!!! Finally found a few of these. Any idea if the screw comes with the seal?
What book do you have? Might have to get one for myself

It's in all the parts lists I've looked at, including here on iBoats

For what ever reason they went to a different screw for the vent on those flimsy 40 / 48 / 50 HP lower units.------Same drain as always.
