Hello,

I have a Sears Gamefisher 5 HP, Model Number 217-586611.

A while ago, the skeg on it got broken off (Argh.. ). It's sheard off pretty close to the bottom of the lower unit, so there is no hope in using a "Skeg Guard" or an aftermarket bolt on. Sears stopped selling the Gear Housing Cap (Sears Part Number 26804) which would replace the skeg.

Does anyone have any ideas of where to find one? All the marinas I call don't want to talk talk to me about a Gamefisher and the fabrication shop I called wanted $150 to make/weld one on...That seems like a lot of money for this little motor..

Thanks for you advice!

Josh

You can get it welded for less. The standard price for a skeg welded on an outdrive is about 125$ and that is a lot bigger than the one on a little gamefisher. You should look around more.Charlie

Im pretty sure your motor was built by Eska.I
believe the lower unit is very similar to
the Clintons.I dont think you will find the part
new and used may be hard to find but watch Ebay
for parts or parts motors.Im no expert but it would seem maybe you could make a piece out of aluminum and weld it on.I also think most of those
motors have a bottom cover on the gearcase you
could replace.
