Hello
I am trying to rebuild a 1957 35 horse power Johnson Sea horse.some of the things I need are real hard to get.Right now I need the large version of the white box that holds the starting solenoid. The one that is big enough to hold the voltage regulator in the cover and has 2 butterfly screws on the bottom. On the outside it should say electric starting.I am also desperately looking for for the portside bracket that has the generator housing and also the extension for the carburator air intake muffler. Also the rubber seal that sits between the cowling and the lower body. Can anybody out there help me please? :)

Howdy, Rolmops.

Twin Cities Outboard in Minneapolis probably has what you need.

I have suspected them of having parts in stock for engines that never were.

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)

Rolmops, I was researching some of the old posts and found this one. I am interested in knowing if you ever found the cowl seal for an RDE-19 or location for purchasing the electrical cover found inside the boat. As for the muffler on the carb are you talking about the flame arrestor on the front of the motor behind the faceplate or am I missing something here. My motor is on a 1956 Feathercraft Vagabond so any sound suppresion would be great. Thanks, :)

Hello Tgissel
This was 2 years ago.A lot of water has passed under the bridge.
Twin city outboard had all the metal parts that I needed.I found the cowling seal on e-bay and by mere chance i found someone who sold 2 '57 seahorses. The two together went for $65.They are part of my fleet of good running engines now.1957 was a year where Johnson had a big white noise arrester on the front end of the carburetor. They would be nice flame arresters as well.
I know a man who services all these old horses and still has spare parts and lots of knowledge on the subject. He has a warehouse full of used spare parts for outboards from the thirties up to the seventies.Just yesterday he serviced a "Bundy" (sp?). I sometimes help him sending parts around the country.Send me an e-mail with the parts you are looking for and I can see whether I can get a package together. My e-mail is :dharrin1@rochester.rr.com
