Hello all,
I have a 1996 chevy suburban 1500, my father owned it since new before giving it to me a few years ago it has 127,000 miles. Like all GM trucks I had the transmission replaced when it went at 80,000 and I had the upper/lower, trany, intake, gaskets replaced when they all started to leak at the same time at 120,000. I have also had the coolant pump replaced and all the hoses for the cooling system replaced. Along with many other parts that you would expect to have replaced.

Last week before going to work I went to disengage the emergency brake and I heard a snap and the disengage lever was in my hand, the little piece of wire that has the special crimps at both ends snapped in two. I was able to disengage the brake by reaching above the pedal and pulling down on the part the wire hooks to.

So here is my question; Are there any web sites which have part diagrams to GM vehicles? Also where would you guys recommend me ordering parts for my truck online?

Finally, what else should I get ready to replace that will certainly brake soon?

THANKS!

Front ball joints and rear end! Not to mention that I get 17k miles on my front brake pads with moderate driving. There is no excuse for these kinds of failures at that mileage. Makes me want to dump my 94 454 before any of that starts happening on mine. I've only got 42k on it.

My 1996 Chevy 4x4 350 V8 pickup has been near flawless from 130K to the present 185K, I had to do a power steering pump, an o2 sensor, and a water pump- all around 140K miles. This has been the best vehicle I have ever owned, I use it to haul my 4500 lbs camper, boat, and haul all kinds of things, not to mention I plow with it as well. It rides and drives like the day I bought it.

That surburban should serve you well.
