Hi all.I need #8 and #21 and the nuts and washers. They are for the bolts for the shock and tilt and the trim housing.
They cost over $100 and I'm way too cheap(actually broke) to buy new.
My trim housing is leaking and need to replace it.
I have the housing and the parts to replace.Just need the bolts.
The ones I have were messed up in removel.Salt water is tough.

I have 2 trim/tilt cylinders for about 50 hp. mid to late 80's.Came off 88/40 willing to trade. Not for sale.
Hope I didn't break any rules.

Re: Parts.

The nuts are 1/2" - 20 lock nuts, should be able to get those at any hardware store. I may have a set of the shafts, will have to check this evening, will pm you tomorrow.

Re: Parts.

they should be standard threads and lengths. Try your local fastenal store. You can avoid many future saltwater problems by getting a mercury zinc slab MM-818298T1 (about $12). get a length of 200-400Lb stainless leader and crimp on some copper ring terminals. Bolt the salb of zinc to any handy spot. Across the bottom between your clamps is an ideal location if it does not gather debris. run the SS jumper from aluminum body of trim to zinc. I've never given it too much thought but you could probably use this to help with the other trouble spots.

Re: Parts.

Thanks for the tips!!
They have a zink on the lower unit.
These spots once they get salt water in them not much is gonna stop the reaction of salt water on alum and SS.
They bind up tight and only heat and a big hammer will take some apart.
This boat has been in salt water it's whole life.
Thanks again.J

Re: Parts.

the zinc behind the prop is of marginal help to the trim. the trim usually rides on plastic bearings

Re: Parts.

RRitt rebuilds the hyd pump.
If you can't find them on this site, boats .net sells the brushes and misc.parts.

Re: Parts.

if the inside of your motor is rusted and it is a 3w then it isn't worth fixing. if it is a 2w and rusted then you can sand blast it, acid etch it, and repaint it - otherwise it isn't worth rebuilding either. that aside, i have lots of parts for the electric motors. If there's something you can't find from merc or iboats send me a note. but seriously, not kidding, if you have rust inside a 3w then it isn't worth fixing. new chinese 3w motors for force are under $100.
