'86 Evinrude 140....trying to track down a fuel problem and as a result have cleaned carbs several times. Each time I've removed the carb body(s) from the throttle body to do so, but never removed the throttle body.

I noticed in another post a reference to "passages in the throttle body". I just assumed the only passage was the big hole the butterfly sits in. Is there some other passage in the throttle body that might affect fuel delivery? If so, anything special I should know about before trying to clean it?

Who knows...I might actually understand how this engine works some day!!

Thanks.

Re: Passages in Throttle Body?

Go to an auto parts store and get you a gal of berryman carb dip. Take those carbs off again and completely dissemble them and let soak over night and then rinse off with water. Then take some air and blow thru all the little passage holes that are in the body. Then replace the needle and float seats. If you haven't already done this. You need a exploded view of these carbs to reassemble them. Pay close attention to the directions on the chem dip you will soak them in.

or take some digital pixs during the tear down process
