Pennzoil problems?

After 2 friends informed me that my engine smokes too much, and since they dont make the patch for 66 Merc 650s, I was wondering if it's the oil I'm using. It's Pennzoil TC-W3, recently bought, 16 oz in 6 gallons of gas. I'm also noticing the plugs are loading up after idling for a few minutes. One friend said I might try 55:1 or even 60:1, and see if it runs better. I'm wondering if this is related to my problem of the motor not wanting to plane out and run max rpm. Any thoughts?

Re: Pennzoil problems?

sounds like you might need to decarb the engine, carbon smokes and so does tomuch oil. oil mix is correct for wot. can idle on less mixture. use seafoam , check this site for instructions. really works. good luck ron

Stay with the correct recommended mixture.
Check that you are operating at the right temperature and the T/Stat is not stuck on open.
Perhaps a good decarb is in order.
