Penta 270 (1985) Oil Seal Part Number

Repairing an oil leak on the out drive of Penta 270 outdrive. The seal that is leaking is the one that goes around the ujoint shaft between motor and drive. Looks like I also need the steel inner ring also.

I can see the parts in a service manual but it doesn't have part numbers or where to buy.

Anybody able to locate part numbers and where to buy?

You can order the parts right here on iboats.

You do realize that when you replace those parts there are necessary adjustments to the bearing preload and shimming that must also be done.

Thanks, found the replacement parts I need.

As far as the adjustments, this is my first time working on an I/O, I restore cars so have mechanical abilities but not specific Penta knowledge yet.

I am just replacing the oil seal and washer, so I'm not sure what adjustments there are. Is it part of re-installing the u joint shaft and nut on the gear side? I did notice the shims behind the oil seal washer.

Yes, you have found the important bits, the shims.
Go to Boatinfo - The library, containing manuals, brochures and other technical documents from the last hundred years! and check the manual for your drive.
