Hello party people! New to the forum I apologize in advance for ignorance... 1998 chaparral 18.5' Penta SX , family boat in Yuma AZ, previous owner used to fish SDbay and kelp beds Ihave had the boat for 4 years Colorado river only probably 40-50 days a season. My steering began to get a bit stiff I assumed the steering cable was probably getting close to replacement age. Then last week the boat would turn easily left hard right "bound up feeling " when under power. I have removed the steering cable and the transom is still "binding" squeaking loudly... Unable to find lube points I just shoved some grease in there and the squeaking has subsided, but it's still binding... I notice a lot of play in the pivot points/pins . I can't find any instructions on replacement...any info is welcome any questions and I'll try to answer them , thank you

Did you grease the steering shafts? Often times the shafts will get nasty with grease and dirt and bind...simply wipe down with break cleaner on a rag and then apply a light coat of grease while turning port to starboard (or starboard to port)...I've not had this issue myself, however, my buddy's mercrusier had a stiff steering issue and this fixed it.
