Was noticing that Penzoil is more than half the price as Quicksilver gear lube. Well I drained and refilled my lower unit with Penzoil (used to use it in my Johnson) last week and now noticing the price difference I was wondering if there is a significant enough difference that I should use the Quicksilver in my '98 90ELPTO. Is it worth draining unused $5.00 a bottle Penzoil, spending $11.00 on quicksilver? I replaced the drain, fill and vent plug o-rings...would I need to replace the o-ring set again eventhough I just replaced them (not sure if the initial tightening damages them once removed...or a one shot deal as I've heard them called). Facts...opinions?

Re: Penzoil vs Quicksilver gear lube

everyone will have there own opinion about oil and lube but i'll give you mine , i wouldn't put penzoil anything in my lawn mower . personally i would use the quicksilver stuff -and i do, but i would also use , esso, castrol, mobil 1 usually they are higher priced but as the saying goes you get what you pay for - by the way castrol and mercury are the same and i trust mercury's quality control at lest until they prove me otherwise which i hope they never do.
