Now I'm not trying to be mean spirited to you guys back east so please don't get me wrong... Who knows maybe this will help with all the snow back there and everything.

We got the Sea Ray on the lake by 7:55am yesterday, what a morning, not even a breath of wind. It was about 60 with a few clouds and a water surface to rival even the most perfect sheet of glass. This was the second time out with the new 7.4L, just trying to get that 1st 20 hours before the season hits. In almost 4 hours of motoring around lake mead we saw 2 motor boats and 3 sail boats. I didn't have the heart to ask one of sailors why the big sheet of cloth hanging perfectly vertical. Anyway one guy looked very busy pulling on a rope several times towards the rear of his craft ;)

The thing I learned, though, was all about trim and tabs. Very interseting to get on a perfectly smooth lake and play around with the settings at various speeds.

Got off the lake by 1:00pm for a perfect little put some hours on the new motor day. This is going down as the mellowest day ever, nothing exicting happened, just up the lake for about two hours and then back down. I had a great time, maybe after 6 months and $5500 of new motor I've become easy to please... I think some of you will understand :)

Re: Perfect Day

I am hammering my laptop in a jealous rage! :D
Heck, I get happy if it is 40 degrees out. Thats okay, not only is my boat a mere shell, but the lake isn't up until May anyway.....Enjoy!

Re: Perfect Day

Awesome! We had a similar adventure in our new boat too (26' Tolly), 3 weeks ago Sunday. We had invited another couple with us to go cruise around for the day in the Salt Spring Island area. Early that morning was a little cloudy but warm... half an hour before we were suppose to leave the phone rings. It's our guests phoning 'sick' with hangovers... gee thanks! Could of taken my nephews out or something... oh well, too late. Although a little ticked off at our guests the wife and I decided to go anyways and get the feel of the new boat. We no sooner left the dock and the sun came out... there we were, cruisin' along in the sunshine in January. We spent the day exploring various little coves and Islands. We visited a friend/caretaker on a private Island and went for a little sight-seeing hike. As the sun started to fade toward the mountains we went back to the boat, got a cozy blanket and enjoyed the hour and a half long trip back to port up on the bridge. We glided back through the harbor, along the channel and into the marina under red skies and glass calm water. A beautiful wife (pregnant at the time but we had a Valentines day baby), the setting sun, the calmness, the gentle rumble of the big block in our tiddly little 'dream' boat. I had to pinch myself to see if I was dreaming. What started as a crappy day turned into one that I won't soon forget. I called the 'sick' friends and thanked them for not coming :)

Definitely, after reading the posts above, I will also hammer my laptop !!!!! lol…This is the cool thing about boating, you have wonderful moments, and a bunch of people to share the story. Enjoy! I will go fishing offshore on Saturday, in the Mochima National Park. Generally, we leave the dock on or before 6am, and start casting on 7 am. Nothing like start the day on the ocean. I will write some stories for you, so you can hear about the Mochima park (eastern coast of Venezuela).
