Performance 3.0 Ideas?

I would like to do Thru Hull Exhaust on a 3.0 im not sure if this is possible. Can anyone give me some hp increase suggestions (im looking to mod the engine but im not rich so) what ever you can tell me will be greatly appricated

HP increase for a 3.0 will be little to none to really feel a power increase or speed, I did thru hull exhaust on a 350magnum v8, I got a wee bit better holeshot maybe 1 or 2 mph top end which is what I expected. HP gain maybe 10 if I'm lucky, but it sounds great.

i donno maybe ill just do it for sound then. Does anyone know of carbs that will give me a lil more.

The sound from a 3.0 won't be very impressive.

Go out of your way to find a boat with through hull exhaust before you spend the money. You won't like the way it sounds.

Nothing short of a Turbo, or a Supercharger is going to Wake-Up a 3.0l.........<br /><br />The Only Way to make Serious Power with a 3.0l,<br />Is to Trade Up to a Bigger Engine...........<br />In a Different Boat,<br />Is the Easiest Way..................

the only thing is i donno if i have enough room i have a 18 foot scarab sprint. Its kinda ify weather ill be able to fit bigger.

If a 3.0 fits, then Generally a V6 or V8 will fit. The V6 and V6 are the same width as each other, and the V8 is as long front ot back as the 3.0. The V6 is actually shorter.

That little Wellcraft was also available with a 4.3 v6 175hp 2bbl carb version, I looked into one, but bought My Wellcraft 196 Eclipse instead

I could not tell you ,I'v not seen any V6 with a thru hull exhaust but I'm sure someone has done it.

I'm getting a Pertronix II and Flame Thrower II coil for my 3.0. and am not sure if I will gain much in hp...just wanted to get away from points and condensors. I will post when I finally get it and put it in.

i run through hulls with 4.3L. most people think it has a v8 when they hear it. it has a shriller note than a v8 and would probably sound better if it was y'd together and exited through a single 3.5" port. or inline mufflers. $$$. $2.56 a gallon yesterday so not this year.

Hmmm i was thinking of doing a flame throw kit im not sure if i would be able to install that all myself.

<br />If you don't think you can install a Flame Thrower coil by yourself you need to get any ideas of doing any work on you engine out of your head....<br />

LOL im just not sure what a flame thrower system consists of i know that i need a coil and what not but thats it.
