We have a century 4500 LX Bowrider with a Mercruiser 7.4 with a 4BBL Carb, it's got quite a large engine compartment, but that engine compartment stays quite warm... VERY warm.. I know that warm air provides less HP than cool air.. so it stands to reason to me that providing better ventalation of the engine compartment should provide better running?? I have two "induction" areas on the port and stbrd sides... one of these houses my bilge fan tubes.. the other is unused... would running a filtered ABS snorkle to the area of the flame arrester aid in power? It would push cool fresh air right to where the breathing is? I'm not saying remove the arrester... just have a snorkel that pushes the coolest air from outside right up to the arrester...
