Performance of a Mercury 5 HP 4 Stroke engine

Dont laugh, but can this little engine work fine on calm seas or sheltered bays on the Atlantic coast? Note, the use will be in sheltered areas of the French Atlantic North coast. Boat will be an inflatable 340 meters with two people in it. All I need is the correct advice on the actual engine and if it will do well on the calm areas? No intentions to take it out to sea.

340 meters is quite a bit of boat for a 5 hp.

Never seen a rubber raft that big!
340 meter = 1,115.485 564 3 feet

If it's 3.4meters...yes, no problem.
3.4 meter = 11.154 855 643 feet

I had a 9ft, a little smaller than 3.4 meters, with a 6 hp and it was pretty fast.

Hi, sure they can come ven bigger than that. Up to 420 and I believe 450, so 340 is actually small compared to some others I have seen over here in Germany. Dont you all have them bigger over there?

Hi, I would get a bigger engine but unfortunately I cant at the moment until I pass the boating license which is complicated in a foreign language. So 5HP is all i can have for now. I intend to up the engine once I get my license which I dont suppose will be this year. I have watched 5hp on 19 jon boats on youtube and they seemed to be going fine so I just wondered. Many people told me in person that is madness and that the boat wont move, so that is why I am asking. My husband is clueless so I haev to do all the questioning for the moment.

340 meters is quite a bit of boat for a 5 hp.

It does not seem so big really, it just over aa feet long
