perko 2 battery switch and alternator

I have a 350 mercruiser. It has a 2 battery switch 2 all 1 off
I'm in the process of rewiring the boat.Can the alternator output wire be hooked up to the common terminal?

It will basically be hooked up to that already unless someone moved it to one of the batteries. Normally, the alternator wire hooks up to the starter solenoid which will be the same connection as the common on the switch.
