Pertronix II problem?

I have an '83 Mercruiser 140 that I have recently switched from points to electronic ignition (Pertronix II ignitor and Flamethower II coil). After 30 to 40 minutes running very smoothly, the engine sputters and stalls. Checking voltage shows that I'm losing current from module to plug. Wires are good. I suspect a faulty module. Is it possible that module is failing after certain temperature is reached? Thanks,

It's definetly possible. Are you absolutely certain of your supply voltage? I had a roughly similar problem with mine and it ended up being a flakey wire. Pulled a new wire directly to key-on and it works liek a champ. Also, did you remove/bypass any ballast resistor/wire in fron tof the module?

I placed voltmeter on negative side of coil. It consistently read 12 volts while running. Also pulled 12 g wire from ignition to coil(+). The original purple wire is bypassed. Where would I see a ballast resistor? Is the whole purple wire a resistor or is there something in-line?
