Pertronix II rules!

I just installed a Pertronix II on my '65 Mustang 289 V-8. The car basically just sits and I do not run it as often as I should. The last couple of times I ran it it idled fine but burbled and missed while running at a fast idle. You didn't notice it so much when under load but it obviously wasn't right.

I checked the point gap and it seemed ok so I began to suspect plugs, wires or carb.

A couple of weeks ago I ran into a Pertronix II on Ebay for $88.00 shipped so I ordered it.

Today I installed it, never even checked the timing, primed the carb (hadn't run for a year) and that thing just fired off and ran like glass.

A highly recommended upgrade!

I have installed pertronix systems on four vehicles in the Bosss car collection, they are easy and work out very well.

The series II has some very neat features including variable dwell and auto shutdown when key is left 'on'.

That's why I made sure to get the II. Especially for the auto shutdown feature. Seems I'm always leaving the key on in the boat. I also have one on the boat as well. It just hasn't gotten much use since I put it on. Hopefully that will be coming to an end this week.

Re: Pertronix II rules!

You know when you're a teenager, you have a dream to someday get a car that is usually out of reach. For some people it's a beemer or a merc, for others it's a big thumping SUV.

For me it was/is a 65 mustang. Might sound silly for you guys, you probably got more than you can poke a stick at. But down here, they are as rare as hens teeth.

A fully restored mustang over here is going to set me back in the vacinity of $30,000.
I saw a picture you posted a while back, looks like it's in very good condition. What's a car like that worth over in the states?

I saw a 69 BOSS 302 4spd at the weekend that belongs to a mate of mine.
Orange (Bright) in color, all original & match #'s etc. 95k miles.
Apparently quite rare and valuable.
NOT FOR SALE.
Very tasty ride.
