Baseball caps on backwards. You know, that is the international symbol for MORON.

Women who take five minutes to "reload" their purse, at the check out line.

People answering their cell phones-in church. Or, just having them "on", for that matter. Trust me, you're not that important.

People that disrespect law enforcemennt. As far as I'm concerned, if you are running from a cop-you're guilty.

Liars.

Re: Pet Peeves

I have to add a few more:

STUPID commercials.
The Kia car commercial drove me nuts with their very poor impersonations of famous actors.
Yea, right... like Arnold would be caught dead in a Kia.
I actually sent hate-email to them about that one. Didn't do anything but make me feel better! :)

And is there anyone but me SICK AND TIRED of that commercial of people screaming about the 7pm free calling for cell phones?
Do you really think that's going to make me drop my current plan and go buy yours?

Songs that are re-written and BUTCHERED.
There should be a law against re-writing songs.

People stretched all the way across the isle in a store. You know the kind: Mom and the kids standing shoulder to shoulder across the way.
They see you there, but make no attempt to be courteous.

And then there is the famous car in front of you constantly looking for that address that they cannot seem to find. They block traffic and make no effort to pull over to let people pass. Same would go for some cell phone users.
Got behind one the other day doing about 25 in a 55 while talking on his phone, swerving all over.
Needless to say, he heard my horn as I passed and saluted him!

And... for the love of God...
SPANDEX, THONGS, or Lingerie should NOT be worn by 'some people'...
You know who I'm talking about
There should be a federal law against it or something! I mean come on... We don't want to see all the folds! :(

H.

Mine,

Disregard for the basic fundamentals of the english language when on forums. Capital letters when required, correct spelling, tenses and grammar. We all make mistakes, no worries, however a couple of checks before posting may help.

Perhaps it's me who is unable to come to grips with the "language of the internet".

People who grin when they see my boat and who are incapable of seeing how much tender loving care it takes to keep an antique boat in good shape and at the same time keep the wife happy!

Andrew, you and my wife would get along fine. Every time I ask her to critique a letter, the first thing she goes for are the things that you mention. :)

People who wish me an merry X-mas bug the hell out of me. I understand some people can't handle the religous aspect of the holiday and that's fine with me. But please, I find the use of X-mas instead of Christmas to be an insult to me and my religion.

Re: Pet Peeves

Companies that require that you push a button to speak in english. Verizon Wireless used to do that but ablsolutely every time I called them I protested the fact by telling them that I should not have to push any button to speak in the language of the land. That if they chose to cater to people wanting to speak other languages, they should make them push the button.

Now when you call Verizon their opening message slips in a brief statement, in spanish, and then just continues on in english.

I hope that my continued protests and yours will make other companies do the same.

Yea Boomyall..

Good one! I hate that too.

When I get those kinds of companies, I typically hang up and call back until I reach someone who speaks English.
DirecWay is (or was) really bad about that.
Thank God I got rid of their Internet service.
I could write a book and retire off the crap they pulled with me.

H.

Re: Pet Peeves

Having JB tell me to email him or Iboats with questions and concerns--and not receiving any type of reply with in 24 hours.

boards@iboats.com <boards@iboats.com>
To: JB, Mod or Admin,
Firstly Happy New Year!
Next, Thank You for Iboats!

I have followed many threads regarding members asking other members about needed parts for their old OB motors.

And I am fairly clear regarding Iboats policies. But??

The reason for this email is to ask upfront for permission to post regarding my need for an unfound part for my '72 Merc 650.

The part in question is the top center cowl mount aluminum casting. Spans over top of power head, between front and rear cowl support castings.

I would post asking other Iboats members for availability of the used part that they may have available. In addition, I would post a small photo edited to point to the specific part I am in need of.

Thank You for your consideration, Happy New Year All
Pat Campbell

Ahh-should I have a customer service issue regarding merchandise ordered from Iboats can I expect the same responce time??
