Okay,
I have done the research on my type of dog, and I trained him. Most of the info I found was breed specific, as each breed has its own personality. Each animal can have its own also.

But, I can't wrap my head around teaching a dog how to overnight on a boat. Where does your dog go potty? or your Cat?

Any other unusual animals on board?

We dont normally do the overnight thing with the dog. But if we do we are usually in an anchorage area where we can let the dog get off the boat to do their thing before lights out at night. If not in an area like that you will have to train them to hang off the back like you do. :D

Or be prepared to clean up incidences.

Paper train him, and put the paper in a large "litter box".
Practice at home before taking him on the boat.

Or do it like some people I know, in the water while treading. :D :D

Biiiig advantage to cats on board. They somehow all have the instinct to hop in a box with kitty litter covering the bottom or a box of sand in a pinch. They even bury it when done.Dont expect your pooch to do anything on the boat but mess up.They almost always(99.9%) have to be on terra firma.
