I can find no plate with the sn/mod# for this 19?? 30 hp jonny I looked in around the transom bracket, sides of clamp housing etc. I did find numbers on the silver plug on the block the are as best I could tell 3169219 I am trying to get the year so as to order parts, any help/ suggestions/ are very much appreciated .

I remember reading a post about this a couple of days ago.

Try "new posts" and go back a few days.

That serial number puts it in the 1969-1972 range. But they didn't make a 30hp during those years. Sounds like it may be a chop shop motor.

I'll post some photos tomorrow, I think all is original but the bonnet may be off a 25, I sometime get them mixed up.. thanks KB.

Here is the motor in question, I need the year to order a recoil starter spring, iboats part# ? all help appreciated.

I think it's a mid/late eighties motor. Not much help I know but without the numbers I can only guess.

According to the ignition coil part(582508) number in the picture the year of the motor is somewhere in the 85-91 range but that is for a 25hp the 30 takes a different part number. Also i see ur fuel pump is missing in the pic #3.

I believe this is the recoil spring you need it covers all motors from 85-01 in the 25-30hp range. just double check it first before you order.http://www.boats.net/parts/detail/brp/B-0395460.html

Double check the first number in that serial number. Maybe it isn't a "3"??

It also looks like the rear mount for the recoil start is missing. Is the motor rotating and has fair compression ? It looks like it was very wet with salt water once, but it doesnt have to mean anything.
