I am getting ready to put the remote cables into my 1978 merc 20hp, and do not have the linkages only the cables and the quick connects, I hoping that someone has their 20HP with remote controls on it so that I can get a clear idea of exactly what I am going to be fabricating in the shop. It would be great to get a couple of pics so that I can get the details of it, thank you very much in advance should you choose to help me on this.

I don't have a picture that will help you. Sorry.....

But...if you have a 20 HP Merc...I hope yours looks as good as this one....

The story I heard is that this motor exists today; never used...never in the water....never had fuel hooked up to it. Man; were they ever beautiful.

ok 1st off, she isn't as pretty as that one WOW that is a gorgeous engine. I hope when I finish with the lil bit of sanding to rough it up in a few months and paint her that she looks close to that good when done, at this point I have her idleing wonderfully and pulling like a freight train..... well maybe like a lil train lol enough to throw all the water out of the bucket and all over me with a flip of the wrist. She is now starting almost instantly and purring away quietly after about 15seconds of idling. Idle speed is 950rpm, I have to check the manual to see where it is supposed to be.

Laddies, that is much more than I was able to come up with, thank you very much, it answered 99% of my questions and should be enough to work from and with to farbricate a few parts, it is nice to know what the original looked like 1st instead of trying to recreate the wheel. thank you again.
