Can someone tell me (or point me to a sticky) how to have text, then a picture, then test, then a picture? Instead of writing, then using the upload manager. I would like to annotate my pics.

Re: picture posting

If you sign up for a free account with photobucket, you can type what you want, and then when you want a picture, you click on the "insert image" button above. Then you simply copy the direct link url from photobucket into the insert image pop up, and hit enter. You can repeat this over and over in order to get your text, then image, then text... Just make sure you click on preview post to make sure your images are there before submitting.

I got a system message the other day 7 was the max in one post. I just saved that one and started a new post in the same thread. Go Figure.

You don't even have to use the insert image button. I just copy the IMG code from Photobucket and paste it in my post. Does the same thing with one less step.

Re: picture posting

I don't like the photoimage postings, cause they get blocked by the firewall at my work.

My way of inserting pictures might be a little more work, but it eliminates the need to have a photoimage account, and also keeps the pictures available for as long as the forum exists (don't you hate it when the pictures are gone because the person no longer has an account on photoimage or they deleted their image folder).

I use the button below the message editor that says "Manage Attachments" and attach my pictures to the post. That will cause them to appear as "thumbnails" at the bottom of the post.

I know that is not what you want... but here comes my trick.

I preview my message and click on the thumnail so I can see the image in full size. I then click on the image and copy the 'http address' that iboats has for the image. Then I paste that internet address into the main part of my post using the "insert image" button on the message editor, so that the image is now full size in the post, along with a thumbnail at the bottom.

attachment.php

I just did that on this post.

It's a little more work, but now I do not have to worry about managing a separate account to keep the pictures there, plus the image is now permanently part of the "forum" and no one will get those messages that the picture cannot be loaded because the other website is not available or it's not blocked by a firewall.
