Beautiful boat, whats wrong with the inboard? V8 engines are bulletproof if they run to begin with, lol

where are you in NJ?

Ray, as far as the engine goes.......I was told it runs. Just felt I'd get a better running and handling boat with the OB's.
I'm in Manchester Twp.
Jim

Saw the Bertram you were talking about in your previous post, looks interesting. I would also consider leaving the inboard, fuel economy would be a significant concern with twin OBs. Otherwise the boat appears to have a lot of potential! Good Luck :)

Good looking boat! Is she gonna be for fishing or for pleasure? Take some time and visit the boat yard, the guys there should offer much help in chosing the right path.

MIKENVA,

Thanks, I'll take your advise and ask around the boat yards. My plans are to make it an open fishing boat but it will be used for "pleasure" also.

Jim

2K, what you see is what I got. Everything else had been stripped. I did some searches after I took possesion of her to see what she would have looked like from the factory. I think I have a pic saved somewhere..........I'll try to load it on to my site. Jim

jomac,
Yep that's her in her prior life. I had sent the serial number from her title to Silverton since my initial post and thats what they sent back. So, what say ye about my plan? You've seen my pix of how she looks now and everthing except the hull and stringers are gone. She's just a shell of her former self. An open fishing boat would work then?
Jim

I say go for it man! What a hull. You have a lot of room to make some innovative designs. What are your ideas for her?

chunky

Chunky,

Was thinking of an open fishing platform. There was a v-berth I the bow originally, followed by a rather large cabin. Was thinking of re-doing the v-berth in the bow and leaving the rest of her wide open.

Jim

If you weren't so far away i'd be trying to trade ya a Trophy :D

Re: Pictures/Before

jomac,

Thanks, I checked the site. Lots of good info there. I have also been to the seacast site and am now chatting w/ wolfgang there. Thinking of using their product to beef up the transon to handle the transom bracket for OB's.
Question..........Most boats top section/deck is a one piece molded section screwed or riveted to the hull. When I do the deck above the v-berth and the gunwall tops what should I use to form these out? Glassed 1/4" ply maybe???? Suggestions?

Jim

Re: Pictures/Before

jim, not for nothin, but why dont you see if what ya got runs well? I have an uncle that ran a 440 inboard on a big hull like yours and he didnt burn a lot of fuel at all, compared to his buddy with twin ob .. and that 440 could boogie along, no sweat

its all there, it RUNS, run it!!!!

Priced any big boy outboards? the seacast alone will cost more than what it would take to get that big block purring along again! save the 15 grand that a pair of used honkers would cost and dock that bad boy!

1/4 ply would work great, 3/8 would have a little more beef if you wanted to sun deck the roof, or if you are going to heavy weather the boat, something that big has to poke its nose out a bit, a 440 wont suddenly run lousy just cause its 30 miles out!

Re: Pictures/Before

some where i have a brochure that shows a center console with a forward V-berth. that was a nice looking boat. just cant remember who builds it.
the area above the cabin was used as a fishing platform/deck. i want to say SeaChaser. but im probably wrong.
-
seemed like the ultimate fishing combo, alot better than a W/A cuddy. good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!
