Pilot Water hole problem

I have a Suzuki Model D.T.55 HP, 1989.
After the motor has been running for about 5 minutes in salt water the flow blocks and I have to free it by inserting a nylon cord into the pipe. This fixes it for a few minutes then it blocks up again. I have tried flushing with a Mercury Flush and also detergent but neither have had a lasting effect. When it is being flushed out with pure water the flow is constant and it is only in salt water that the problem occurs.

Re: Pilot Water hole problem

Sounds like tired water pump. Probably getting good flow on muffs because of water pressure.Plugs up quick in salt water because of weak flow allowing rapid coagulation of salt deposits.Would also recommend thermostat service or changeout every season as these components rapidly deteriorate and collect deposits.

Thanks OB, I will get them both checked out as I suspected salt build up but not sure.
