has anyone tried the composite piranha propellers? I want to try them but would like feed back from your opinion before I order. I would like to know all the positives and negatives. I know its composite so I don't need to hear its junk cuz its plastic but piranha has been around 20 plus years and im pretty sure there the only composite modular propeller around. thanks

I haven't tried one personally but my brother in law got one to try out and returned it the next day. Results were terrible. I have heard that from a couple people. I like the idea of them but don't think the performance is there... IMHO

I think the composite is just too brittle for my purposes. If you even touch the bottom the prop will cease to exist, whether it is mud, sand, silt or rock. I would bet hitting a stick would break up the prop. The blades were replaceable, if I remember correctly, but I thought them too pricy to justify. You can get a decent aluminum prop for $75 or so.

if you read up on piranha you will see that the composite is about 15% stronger than alum so I cant see how they are to brittle for any application and if I hit something I will break a blade and not my lower unit. I have damaged alum and stainless and the rubber hub dosent always work which is why im asking about piranha. I think I am sold on piranha just from reading there website so I will buy one and test it and give some feed back

Let me know how it goes for you. What are you putting it on? Like I said I like the idea of it..

I will be fitting my 320hp ski-pro and I will also be trying a few different pitches. I called and ordered the prop and they have a blade exchange program so I will be taking advantage of that to find what props work best for each application. and the price was perfect and I will only have to buy blades for now on. I will give feed back in a few days.
