Re: Piranha Props?

Tallman - I used one on a 17ft. ski boat with a 115 Yamaha... for 5 minutes. This is how long it took to decide that it was useless.

When taking off with a lot of power the blades deflected to such an extent that the effect was as if the prop was cavitating. The hub looked OK so this is all I can deduce. I ran 17" and 19" pitch blades and they were equally poor.

If you are continually running in shallow water and expect to hit the bottom a lot then this could be the prop for you! Otherwise go for a metal prop every time.

Simon

Re: Piranha Props?

I'm using a 15 inch by 19 pitch on a 21 foot bayliner and think it runs pretty well! No real issues that I have seen. I want to go up in Pitch but they don't have a 15 X 21 so I have to buy a whole new prop. Other than that I think it works fine. I'd consider myself a novice at propping so take that for what it's worth.
