Piston Install - which way 83 115hp Johnny

I know that the sloped side of the pistons need to point towards the exhaust side of the cylinder. what I am not sure of is which side is the exhaust side???

I am assuming towards the "middle" or where the exhaust cover is, but just want to be sure.
