piston ring removal

have 30 hp rude needs ring replaced can it be done without tearing apart.

With a question like that, you need to buy a service manual before tearing into it. However, the answer is a big No! The powerhead has to come completely apart to get at the rings.

sorry I didnt put every thing in a guy bet me 50.00 that it can be done so I told him i would put it on here and get some comments. I know you have to tear down I want the 50. thanks for answers

Hacksaw/sawsall..just in front of the head... then slit the cyls' sideways both sides, and then just in front of the crank.......split the mess..put in new rings..****house fulla JB weld, and the very important prayer..:D

Nice Scatty... it almost sounds like you've done that before! But he didn't ask if you could take it apart with no tools, he wants to not open it up... I'm sure he'll get 5-10 psi compression after he's done it your way!

OHHHH, no tools..
Then its a no brainer..get a new set of rings, take the cowl off, toss them in the pan, cowl back on, DONE!:cool:
