i have a ficht 115 that i need to adjust the timing pointer the manual saids to use a piston stop p/n 342679 does anyone know what this is were a can get one or make one thanks

Hi Mxz 583<br /><br />I dont know what the original costs, but if you are handy you can make your own from and old spark plug. Remove porcelain and everything, and weld a nut on top of it. The you need another nut and a 4" 1/4" screw.

Hi mxz....the idea of the piston stop is to get the piston to stop at the same distance before and after top dead center. The tool can be had from any Johnny/Rude dealer. Or, some American ingenuity will work also. A bushing that will fit the threads of the sparkplug hole with a bolt going through it will work also. Good Luck!

that is what i have now and it does not work that makes me think that this engine needs a special one ??

Does it not screw into the sparkplug hole? Does it not stop the piston before tdc? <br /><br />c/6<br /><br />Hooty

Fichts use a "special" stop tool. It's used similar to the standard "old style" one that everyone is thinking about but it has a long plastic shank on it. If you are checking the top-dead center and have the computer to set timing, you've got to have a manual, NO ??? If you have a factory manual, you will see the proper tool and the method to use it correctly. You can not "time" the engine with just a timing light, you must have the computer and software to do so ! Hense, the need for the factory manual!!

yes i have the factory manual and a laptop with the diagnostic software but the manual does not show the tool unless there is a manual i don't have is there only one??
