Hi!

I have an Evinrude 40Hp 1970 with one of the pistons stuck. The cause is either rust or seizure, don't know for sure. It was found in a garage and has not been running for 10-20 years. So, is there any good tricks to get it out. I have tryed almost everything (oil, diesel, hammer, clamps, etc.). I have a manual but it will not help in this case.

From where can I get knew pistons (if I don't get it out in one piece) and rings? How much do they cost?

It would be nice to get the engine running someday.

Robert

Re: Piston stuck!

Try to drop some WD-40 and let it sits in for a day or so.

Mastertech.com may have the parts for you or you can also try twin city outboar.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Nam

Robbie. I used marvel Mistery oil on the same problem. I also used a 4 ft pipe on a very large socket to turn the flywheel. It took a couple of hrs but working both forward and back I freed the motor with lots of oil. The motor did start up the same day. I had good compression on all four cylinders as well.
