The only way to accurately tell the pitch of a prop is with a pitch block and that requires a trip to a prop shop. If you have a keen eye, you can place it along side a prop with the same pitch and eyeball it but that will only get you in the ballpark. One thing you need to consider is that just because two props are of the same pitch, they may not be the same design and if they are from different manufacturers the design is definitely different and hence the performance will also be different -- similar but nevertheless different. Likewise, a 15P prop from one manufacturer may perform very differently or perhaps no differently than a 17P from another manufacturer -- again because of design differences. Just the difference in cupping or no cupping can make them peform similarly.
