Pitot Tube Won't Stay Down!

 I have a new pitot tube I installed this year on my 18 foot Skeeter Bas boat. The speedo works fine when I first start out of the hole but eventually the pitot tube kicks up from either debris or high pressure. Since it is a new tube, I don't know what to do about it. It has a snap to it that locks it down but is meant to kick up so it won't break when it hits debris. It is a friction snap and feels like it is stiff enough. I have checked out other new ones at the store where I bought this one and they all feel the same. Any ideas?

How did the old one do? Sometimes moving to a different location can help. Just an idea.

First thing you need to find out is if in fact is debris kicking it up because there is nothing you can do bout that. Check in the instructions, a lot of them can be adjusted. Mine does. A photo if the full transom and a close photo of the part will be helpful.

Re: Pitot Tube Won't Stay Down!

I bought this boat used. It has an older 150hp mercury black max on it. The speedometer wasn't working. It was disconnected when I bought it. I got it to work by adding new line and a pitot tube. The old one for this motor and boat hooked up directly to the lower unit through a vent hole. The fittings are gone so I thought I would add a pitot tube. I have a step hull so the mounting has to be done on the lower step. Either the pressure or debris keeps kicking it up. don't need it but it is bugging me. No other options for mountig it. Just figured I would ask for other ideas. I will take a picture and add it.
